I was born in Brooklyn, New York to two amazing parents. I had a simple but loving upbringing and was the third of five children. With seven of us at the dinner table, it seemed like my Mom prepared a full-course meal for company every night. My Mom was a great cook and a stay-at-home housewife who worked tirelessly from morning until night to keep us all healthy and happy. I developed an interest in cooking at a young age from watching my Mom prepare amazing meals from scratch each and every day.

In 1989, my husband, son and I discovered beautiful Virginia while searching for a better quality of life. We spent 13 wonderful years in Chester before building our dream home in Powhatan in 2004.

In 2008, I was asked to prepare meals for several elderly couples and working families who wanted quality home cooked meals on their dinner tables each night. I enjoyed cooking for them so much that in January 2009, I decided to establish Classic Catering by Barbara, LLC. In April 2010, I decided to retire from a long and successful career to fulfill my dream and passion for cooking.
